Birthday Book
This makes a great gift, especially if you are also clever
enough to make a few cards for the pockets. I used
American Crafts Moda Bella Collection 1 as it is so bright
and cheerful.
Materials
8 sheets 12 x 12 double sided papers
2 pieces of chipboard for the covers 8 ½” x 6 ¼”
1 Zutter’s Perfect Closure
1” white o’wire
Beads and decorative wire
Rikrak and ribbon to match papers
Instructions
Take your double sided paper and make a centre fold and
score it. Open flat again.
Now measure 4” from bottom and fold and score. See
diagram1 above.
With bottom piece folded up refold the paper in half so
that the 2 pockets are on the outside. This is where you
will insert your cards.
Punch holes along the open edge of your papers. I put
DST on the inside bottom so that the entire page became
an extra pocket for overflow cards.
Cover the chipboard covers and attach the Zutters
Perfect Closure, these are ideal for this sort of project as
you can adjust the amount needed to keep the book
closed as you fill it with cards. I inked my strap to
match the papers. I printed off tables in Word to suit the
months and added them to the front of the pockets and
decorated the pages with ribbon and rikrak.

Tales of Arabia
Anyone who has seen many of my mini books will
know that I have been making my own versions of
covered wires for quite a while – and its painstaking
and a major faff to get it looking right so when I heard
about the Zutter Cover- Alls – wooo hooo... I couldn’t
wait to get my hands on them and have a play!! For
this project I used the curved spine 7.5 x 5 version and
decided to test it to the limit. I am ecstatic to
announce that it took everything I threw at it and
more and didn’t bend or buckle as normal chipboard
would tend to do.
Materials
1 Cover-All Curved Spine 7.5 x 5
Black 7.5 x 5 pages
7Gypsies Papers
Gold Acrylic Paint Dabber Adirondack
Black Acrylic Paint Dabber Adirondack
Crackle Medium by Folk Art
Hot Fix Jewels
Home-made ‘Beauty Mark’
I painted the Cover-All with gold paint, then the black
paint. Then gave it a coat of Crackle Medium...
realised I had done it in the wrong order and gave the
Cover-All another coat of Gold and another coat of
Crackle Medium.... and it didn’t mind at all!! No
warping or bending after being wet and dry so often,
which is brilliant news if you like to play and try new
ideas out! The covers where then stamped and the
images heat embossed in black, gold and copper – and
the cover didn’t complain at all. Then I got my
Bejeweller out and hot fix gems and applied them to
the edges and spine and attached my own version of a
Beauty Mark to the front. Cut the title on my Craft
Robo and heat embossed the letters.
Covered the inside pages with 7Gypsies papers and
photos of my home here in Saudi Arabia and bound it
with the plastic sheet to insert into the ready- made
pocket of the Cover-All.

ATC Book
This is a quick and fun thing to make as a gift for those people who enjoy making and swapping ATC’s (Artist Trading Cards). I
covered the chipboard covers with material but it’s been in my stash for that long I have no idea who made it. I used black
blank pages and DST’d the little ATC plastic covers to the page ready for the ATC’s to slide in. Attached some chains with
doodads and beads to the 1” o’wire and chipboard letters for the title. Quick, fun and useful.
Materials
2 x chipboard covers 4 ¼” by 4 ¼”
12 pages in black.
4 pieces of material for the covers.
Chipboard letters
¾” burnished gold o’wire
