Photo Keeper
I am forever bringing ugly, overfilled bins
of disorganized photos with me to crops. The
result is that I get little done and I can
never find that “perfect photo” I know is
hiding in the box. I created this little photo
keeper from envelopes and scrap chipboard
to help me organize my photos before I go to
the crop and to limit what I am bringing
(because I am one that likes to bring
everything AND the kitchen sink!).
I covered two 5” x 7” pieces of chipboard
with patterned paper. Then I cut a 1”x5”
piece of chipboard and a 3”x5” piece of
chipboard and covered them both with
patterned paper. I traced a plate onto the 3”
x5 piece to get the curved edge and
trimmed off the excess. Using gaffer’s tape,
I attached the strips of chipboard to one of
the 5x7 pieces with a little space between
the pieces to allow them to bend at the
seam.
I bound the two covers and several 5”x7
“envelopes together using the Bind It All
and ¾” black O-Wires. To close the flap, I
attached a piece of Velcro to the cover and
to the flap. Now I have a cute way to keep
my photos organized at crops and I’ll be
sure to always find the photos I need. The
Velcro closure ensures that my photos won’
t fall out of the envelopes while traveling in
my bag.
Zutter Cover-Alls are a fast way to create
an elegant cover for any binding project.
Here I used a 6x6 white, flat spine Cover-
All, Glimmer Mist, and a diecut to create a
striking cover. Since the Cover-Alls are
already covered (either in white or kraft
colored paper) they are easy and
economical to decorate. No need to cover
them with paper or paint – a little
Glimmer Mist did the trick in this
application.
I laid the Cover-All opened flat on a
nonstick craft mat. I arranged several
Tattered Angels Glimmer Screens on the
cover to create a pattern on the spine and
on the front and back covers of the book.
Then I liberally Glimmer Misted the Cover-
All with Patina Glimmer Mist. I removed
the Glimmer Screens to reveal a pattern.
After drying the Cover-All with a heat gun,
I used a black pen to doodle the outline of
the patterns made by the Glimmer
Screens. Then I cut a damask diecut with a
diecutting machine and adhered each half
of the pattern to the covers. I added
Antique Silver ink to the edges of the Cover
for a little more depth.
Necklace Hanger
My daughter was having trouble storing her necklaces, especially the bulky beaded I took one cover from a set of Teresa Collins
Covers and punched binding holes along the straight edge. I traced the cover onto a piece of 12x12 paper and then cut it out
just inside the line I traced. This made it smaller than the cover itself and I adhere it to the cover so a black border showed
around the edges. I wrapped ribbon and trims around the middle and used stickers and diecuts to create a monogram. The "K"
letter was clear and instead of trying to figure out how to cover a glue dot to hold it on with I decided to cover it with glitter. I
stuck the letter to a 3L Scrapbook Adhesives adhesive sheet and rubbed (according to directions) to get the adhesive to stick tot
he letter. I peeled off the letter and sprinkled on glitter. Then I took apart a keychain I made at Scrapbook Royalty's big annual
fundraiser a couple years ago--I used just the acrylic cover from it that we had edged in Swarovski crystals. I used crystal
lacquer to glue the letter to the acrylic keychain cover.
I threaded sections of scrap owires through the holes on the bottom of the cover. To help them stay in place I laid several strips
of adhesive felt borders over top of the wires. When the piece is mounted on the wall, the wall helps the wires to stay put as well.
In punched two holes in the top of the cover with the Pound It All and Rivet Setting Tools from Zutter and then added eyelets
using my Crop A Dile. I tied a beaded chain through the eyelet holes using ribbon to create a hanger. My daughter instantly
hung her necklaces on the hanger. It worked even better than I had envisioned in my head -- woohoo!

I found an inexpensive star shaped chipboard book at a
local discount store. Each page already had a hole
punched in it for a binder ring. I completely covered
each page with paper to get rid of that hole.
To punch the binding holes I inserted one side of each
page into the Bind It All so that it would only punch
three holes at one time into the piece. I chose to not bind
the book with O-Wires since they would not give
enough to allow the book to open. I threaded ribbon
through each hole of each page and tied it tightly in a
double knot. To allow some slack in the binding I
inserted a thick marker in between the knot and the
pages of the book while tying. Once all of the knots were
tied, I removed the marker.
Using a needle and thread I sewed a button onto each
knot of ribbon. Besides being cute the stitches will help
hold the knots in place while the book is handled. After
binding I decorated all the pages, punching the photos
out with a circle punch.
